Gotta Dance Atlanta was founded by longtime dancer and dance instructor Kim Thomas 20 years ago and has been in its current location for three years. Thomas, who has more than 40 years of experience in the dance industry and a degree in dance from Oklahoma University, had a dream and the motivation to see it to fruition. Enter Gotta Dance Atlanta.
With four full studios and up to 40 dance instructors, Gotta Dance Atlanta offers classes ranging from beginner to advanced professional...and everything in between. The classes are diverse in style as well and include hip-hop, jazz, ballet, contemporary, cardio salsa, classically stretch and more. The one constant at Gotta Dance Atlanta is the family-like atmosphere. “It’s like a second home to me,” says Brandon Womack, hip-hop instructor and graduate of the Gotta Dance work- study program, in which Gotta Dance trades studio work for free classes to young dancers. “I’m here all day everyday because I love the environment, and I teach beginning hip-hop the way I wanted to learn. I focus on specific parts of the combination because it’s not about showing off as a teacher. Your students should look good and that takes repetition.”
Womack is also a founding member of the dance team based out of Gotta Dance, Atlanta Swagger Crew, which can currently be seen on the television series America’s Best Dance Crew.
